Coyotes create Hispanic Advisory Board, wear 'Los Yotes' warmup jerseys

Announced on Thursday afternoon, the Arizona Coyotes have created a Hispanic Advisory board, led by the team’s Chairman Alex Meruelo.

The Coyotes are one of the few teams in the NHL that have given an effort to reach out to their fans that represent the Hispanic community. By creating various Spanish social channels — @LosYotes on all platforms — the team joined the San Jose Sharks and Vegas Golden Knights as teams that have provided Spanish-language coverage.

Per the team’s release, Meurelo became the league’s first Hispanic majority owner in July of this year. Other front office staff of the club recognize the importance his representation brings to the franchise.

"We are very fortunate to have Mr. Meruelo as the first Hispanic owner of an NHL team," said Coyotes President & CEO Ahron Cohen. "We finally have the right person in place to connect with the Hispanic community and build a genuine relationship. I'm very proud of the board we've assembled and look forward to working with these great business leaders to develop authentic strategies for reaching out to the Latino community. Our primary focus will be to earn their trust and get more people excited about our team and our great game."

Included in the festivities, the Coyotes will be having a “Noche de los Yotes" tonight against the Nashville Predators. Before the game, the team will be sporting some fashionable threads for their warm up attire.

Not only are the jerseys giving fans a reason to watch the team warm up, but they will be auctioning off the jerseys after the game. The proceeds will benefit the Arizona Coyotes Foundation, which support Hispanic non-profit organizations in the state.

Now we all just need to hope that they eventually make shirts with that logo on it.

The Coyotes are currently 2-2-1 and sit seventh in the Pacific division.
