Argos players confront Tiger-Cats fan who allegedly spit beer at them after CFL Eastern Final

After losing their chance to hoist the Grey Cup, the Toronto Argos had insult added to their injury via a mouthful of beer being spit in their face.

A Hamilton Tiger-Cats fan, drunk off of his team’s 27-19 win that earned them a place in the CFL final, allegedly spat beer at Toronto players while they were exiting the field. This caused the Argos players to react – as one would if that happened to them – and approach the fan by jumping up the stands and getting on to the concourse of BMO Field.

I don’t know if the fan was intoxicated, but trying to fight back against a professional football player in full equipment, let alone the six-foot-two, 217-pound defensive back Chris Edwards, might not be the smartest move.

Toronto Police are reportedly investigating the incident, and the CFL are aware and currently reviewing any available video. The Argos have not yet made an official statement on the altercation.

Hamilton will face the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Dec. 12 for their hometown Grey Cup at Tim Hortons Field, after they defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders 21-17 on Sunday.
