Argentinian fencer Maria Belen Perez Maurice may have lost at the Tokyo Olympics on Monday, but she still had at least one thing to celebrate. Shortly after her 15-12 loss to Anna Marton of Hungary, Perez Maurice got engaged to her coach.

Perez Maurice's coach, Lucas Saucedo, proposed to her as she was giving in post-match interview. Saucedo, 51, wrote his proposal on a piece of paper and held it up during Perez Maurice's interview.

Perez Maurice turned around, saw the paper, screamed and nodded her head yes.

Perez Maurice, 36, has been dating Saucedo for 17 years. Saucedo reportedly didn't think about proposing until the night before the match, according to USA Today. He said he was only planning to propose if Perez Maurice lost, and if she beat Marton, he would wait to propose.

Anna Marton advances to table of 16 with win

With the win, Marton advanced to the table of 16. Marton defeated Korea's Sooyeon Choi by a score of 15-12 in that round, and then took down Uzbekistan's Zaynab Dayibekova in the quarterfinals.

That set up a semifinals bout against Russian Olympic Committee fencer Sofya Velikaya. Marton's run came to an end during that match, a 15-8 loss.

Velikaya will compete against fellow Russian Sofia Pozdniakova in the gold-medal bout Monday.
