"I can't be happy about anything": Slaven Bilic admits he doesn't know if he'll be given time at West Ham

Slaven Bilic says he can’t be happy about anything and is unsure as to whether or not he’ll be given time at West Ham, after his side’s 3-0 defeat to Brighton.

The Croatian is no stranger to being under pressure, however, having recovered from a poor start to the season there was a sense that the weight on his shoulders was lifting as we approached Friday night’s clash at the London Stadium.

However, two goals from Glenn Murray, either side of a Jose Izquierdo finish, and a lacklustre showing from the Hammers leaves Bilic in limbo as to his position in east London.

They’ve been here before, losing to Watford and Southampton early last season, and while Bilic can take solace from that recovery, he is unsure if he’ll have the time to oversee it.

“I don’t know [if I’ll be given time] all that I can say is that I am the manager of the team and I take full responsibility,” Bilic said.

“I am very experienced I have been there before, we talk about bouncing back last season, that is all I can say – what is going to happen? It’s not in my hands, like it wasn’t before the game.

“On one hand I believe in myself and in my work and in my team – we’ve showed that in the last six games.

“On the other hand, you lose 3-0 to Brighton and you can’t be happy about anything.”

West Ham now approach what could be a season defining week as they travel to rivals Tottenham for a midweek League Cup clash before then head to south London to face Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace.
