'Obviously I tried to contact Arsenal' - Chelsea's Antonio Conte says Arsene Wenger training visit 'not possible'

Chelsea coach Antonio Conte revealed that Arsenal were "too busy" to let him visit their training ground during a trip to England while he was manager of Italy.

London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal face off in Saturday's FA Cup Final, with Conte one win away from completing a memorable Double in his debut season in England after leading the Blues to the Premier League title.

Conte visited England in 2015 while he was still coaching the Italian national side, spending time in London with Tottenham, West Ham and Chelsea.

But Conte said that a trip to learn from Arsene Wenger was not possible, telling Standard Sport: "Obviously I tried to contact Arsenal during my experience in England when I visited Chelsea, West Ham and Tottenham.

"But they were very busy at the time and, for this reason, I didn't have the possibility.

"I saw the game Arsenal against Monaco, when they lost at home, but I didn't have the opportunity to see Wenger.

"To see the job he was doing during the training session... I would have liked it, but it was not possible."

Despite Arsenal missing out on Champions League qualification this season, Conte hailed Wenger as one of the top coaches in football history.

Asked by Standard Sport whether the 67-year-old Frenchman was one of the great club managers, Conte added: "For sure, for sure.

"When you stay for a long time at the same team - we're talking about a great team, not a small team - we must consider him like one of the best managers in history.

"He won a lot. When you stay a lot for a long time in the same team, someone can forget this. But Arsene Wenger is, for sure, a really good manager for me."
