Antonio Conte intends to bolster his Chelsea squad before the start of next season as the Italian admitted he will brutally assess the quality of the team ahead of the summer transfer market.

Conte steered Chelsea to the Premier League title with a record-breaking 30 wins in what was his first season in English football, but could not follow up Carlo Ancelotti's achievement from 2010 by also claiming the Double with a victory in the FA Cup final.

Despite only lifting the top-flight trophy days earlier, Chelsea lost their London derby Cup final 2-1 to Arsenal at Wembley which denied Conte the perfect end to his debut campaign with the Blues.

The 47-year-old insisted after the loss that Chelsea's season has still been an "incredible" one but suggested he will seek to strengthen his squad considerably with "quality" signings this summer.

When asked what his transfer plans are, Conte replied: "Now the most important thing is to give a correct evaluation for our season because, for me, it was incredible.

"Every player performed 120 per cent. We didn't have injuries.

"Next season we must pay great attention to understand that we have to improve like numbers and quality of the squad.

"We must be cold to analyse the situation."
