Antonio Brown went back to Central Michigan to check out heated benches he donated

Antonio Brown has had a few questionable moments since late last season, but he did something very nice for Central Michigan.

Back in January, Brown announced he would donate $105,000 to CMU, where he played from 2007-09. He bought the school some heated benches for the football sideline.

It was an unusual donation, but a practical one. Brown went back to Central Michigan last week to check out his gift.

Now, when it’s cold at CMU home games, the players can thank Brown when they take a seat and stay warm.

The Chippewas will be sitting in style. The Dragon Seats are top of the line; several NFL teams have them.

"With Coach [Jim] McElwain taking over the program, I wanted to do something that would help the players perform at their best," Brown said in January, via Raiders.com. "These benches really help me stay loose and ready to perform no matter the conditions and I am excited to see how they help current and future Chippewas succeed. CMU will always be a special place for me and I am happy to be able to give back."

Say what you will about Brown, but it was a nice gesture to give back.

Brown went from CMU to All-Pro

Brown is doing well. After he was traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Oakland Raiders — a saga that wasn’t short on controversy — he signed an extension worth a little more than $50 million.

Brown wasn’t exactly a college star. He was a good player, with 305 catches for 3,199 yards at CMU, but he still was mostly unknown when he fell to the sixth round of the 2010 draft. Then he became one of the greatest receivers in NFL history with the Steelers.

Brown’s journey started at Central Michigan, and he remembers that. The warm seats on CMU’s sideline will be a reminder of his legacy there.
