Anthony Joshua addresses speculation he will ‘retire’ if he loses to Jermaine Franklin

Anthony Joshua has addressed speculation that he will “retire” if he loses to Jermaine Franklin in their bout at the O2 Arena on Saturday (1 April).

The British boxing star is making his return to the ring to face the American heavyweight after successive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk.

Recent reports have suggested Joshua has claimed he’ll retire if he suffers another defeat, but speaking to GMB, he claimed those comments have been made in jest.

“I keep on getting asked that question, ‘If you lose, are you going to retire?’” Joshua said.

“Sometimes, I just feel like I’m not going to debate with people. So I’m just like ‘Yeah, I’ll retire if I lose’. I give them what they want to hear.”
