Answer a Kevin Durant question? Don’t make Russell Westbrook laugh

Russell Westbrook has FINALLY broken his silence on Kevin Durant’s decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder and join the Golden State Warriors! Well … kind of.

All it took was some intrepid reporting from a citizen journalist/alleged Qdoba Mexican Grill employee:

Hey, a loud laugh in response to the question, “How you feel about Durant, man?” is noise! That technically means the silence is broken … even if Russ didn’t actually say anything, and if we don’t know for sure whether that laugh means anything more than, “I am 100 percent not going to answer that question.” It counts!

The captured-on-camera cackle comes on the heels of Durant refuting recent reports that he’d told Westbrook and fellow longtime Thunder teammate Nick Collison he’d planned to re-sign with Oklahoma City before opting to head to the Bay Area.

“I never told Russell or Nick, ‘All right, guys, I’m coming back to the Thunder’ – and then a week later, I decide not to,” Durant told Shams Charania of The Vertical. “Never happened. I don’t operate like that. I heard people say that story, but it’s not the truth […] “There were never promises given in a meeting before July. I went through the process.”

And now that the two longtime teammates, running buddies, friends and All-Stars have gone their separate ways, with Durant speaking often about his view on what transpired and Westbrook keeping his close to the vest, we all have to go through the process of trying to figure out if there’s more to figure out here — if this really was just about KD doing what he believes is best for his evolution and growth as a player and a person, or about long-simmering frustration, or both, or neither, or something else entirely.

We can all stop speculating, of course, once Russ decides to let us in and let us know what he’s really feeling and thinking … which should be any day now, right?

Yeah, I thought so.
