ANOTHER Hail Mary? Aaron Rodgers somehow does it again

There’s no unique skill involved with completing Hail Mary passes, aside from being able to throw a football a long way. There’s a tremendous amount of luck involved in connecting on any desperation throw to the end zone.

Unless you’re Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, apparently.

Rodgers, who threw a Hail Mary to beat the Detroit Lions last season and threw another to send a playoff game against the Arizona Cardinals to overtime, did it again. At the end of the first half in a wild-card playoff game against the New York Giants, Rodgers hit another Hail Mary. This one went to Randall Cobb in the back of the end zone and gave the Packers a 14-6 lead.

On fourth-and-2 with just a few seconds left in the second quarter, the Packers’ only option was for Rodgers to heave one to the end zone. He’s the right guy for the job. Rodgers’ first two Hail Mary touchdowns came on amazing throws, and this was another one. He rolled right, stopped, then threw back to the left and into the end zone. Cobb snuck behind everyone to the back line of the end zone, and the ball dropped right into his arms for a very unlikely 42-yard touchdown.

The Cardinals, who were the victims of Rodgers’ crazy Hail Mary to Jeff Janis in last season’s playoffs, had some deja vu on Cobb’s catch.

The Packers and Rodgers have some bad Hail Mary history against the Giants. At the end of the 2011 season, Hakeem Nicks caught a Hail Mary at the end of the first half. That was the highlight play in a huge upset of a 15-1 Packers team at Lambeau Field. Nicks’ catch came in the same north end zone at Lambeau Field as Cobb’s touchdown.

Rodgers got a little revenge on Sunday. He’s good at this Hail Mary thing.
