The Hammers made a fast start, opening the scoring after just three minutes through Lucas Paqueta before Forest scored twice to put them on the back foot.
Kurt Zouma returned as captain in defence while Tomas Soucek's winner meant he has scored 23 Premier League goals for West Ham; with all 23 being scored from inside the penalty area. It is no surprise with his heading ability that 11 of those goals have come from set plays.
David Moyes' side showed much-needed resilience to get back into the match as two James Ward-Prowse set-pieces - for the equaliser and winner - ensured West Ham were victorious.
Ward-Prowse, who was not named in Gareth Southgate's latest England squad, showed his quality once again and has now registered five assists for the season.
