Fulham had come into their FA Cup fourth round tie looking for a measure of redemption after bowing out of the Carabao Cup at the semi-final stage on Wednesday.

However, any hopes of silverware and a trip to Wembley were effectively ended by a performance in which they came up short at both ends of the pitch.

A first-half injury to Harry Wilson hardly helped Marco Silva's much-changed side but they really ought to have turned some excellent possession and good positions into clear cut chances.

Instead, Rodrigo Muniz was often left isolated and by the time the hosts were throwing men forward without caution they were already two goals down.

While Silva and many of the match statistics will point towards his side being the dominant force, he will be privately aware of the need to strengthen in attacking areas if the club is to continue to progress under his charge.
