Analysis: Aston Villa 3-1 Fulham

While Fulham’s problems in front of goal are well documented manager Marco Silva was rightly disappointed by the manner of their latest Premier League defeat.

His side were simply too passive out of possession and too indecisive when they did have the ball to warrant anything from their trip to Villa Park despite their improvement after the break.

Raul Jimenez was often left to plough a lone furrow in attack, with Willian, Andreas Pereira and De Cordova-Reid all failing to have a meaningful impact on the contest from their positions just behind him.

At the other end of the pitch Antonee Robinson’s own goal came as a consequence of being out of position tracking Moussa Diaby and the USA international was also caught on the ball as Villa broke to score their third from a Fulham corner.

However, six retreating Fulham players were then outmanoeuvred by just three Villa attackers, also giving Silva valid cause for concern.
