American Ventures: How two sisters are giving back to veterans in need

In 2013, sisters Betsy and Emily Nunez launched Sword & Plough to repurpose military surplus material into fashionable bags.

The two were inspired by various members of their family who served in the military, including Emily herself. When Emily was a sophomore in college, she attended the US Army Airborne School where she began to learn about former military members' challenges post-serving. From there, the sisters' idea to help veterans in needs took off.
