Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has said he is "really happy" at the German club, amid speculation he could succeed Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
Asked about Klopp's summer departure from Anfield, the former Reds midfielder, whose side lead the Bundesliga, said: "I have great respect for Jurgen. [I had] huge admiration before coming to Liverpool and that has grown bigger because of what he has achieved and what he has done.
"At the moment, I am really happy here and enjoying my work here. It is a challenge. I am trying to help my players to be at their best. The next one, I don’t know.
"I feel I am in a great place and I am enjoying it. It is the right place. That is all I can say.
"What is going to happen in the future? I don’t know. And I don’t really care at the moment."
Alonso is the early bookmakers' favourite to the next man in charge of Liverpool.
