Nevin Shapiro on Anthony Reddick: Play audio

Anthony Reddick was one of dozens of Hurricanes players named by Nevin Shapiro in recorded interviews with federal agents. During those interviews, the booster admitted supplying benefits to an array of Miami players from 2002 to 2010. Shapiro alleges he provided multiple extra benefits to Reddick during his career with the Hurricanes. Among the benefits he claimed to have provided:

• Rivals recruiting rank: Ranked as the No. 26 safety in the Class of 2004.

• Miami career: A promising starter as a freshman, Reddick’s career was plagued by injuries until he became a starter again as a senior in 2008. He is currently a starter for the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League.

• Multiple trips to nightclubs where Shapiro paid for VIP access and drinks.

• Food, drinks and entertainment at Shapiro's $2.7 million home and $6 million Miami Beach mansion.

• Trips on Shapiro's $1.6 million yacht and jet skis.

• Repairs after Reddick and other players destroyed the engine on one of Shapiro's $12,000 jet skis.

• Meals at Miami-area restaurants including an August 2006 and February 2007 dinner at Italian eatery Grazie.

Corroborating accounts

• Yahoo! Sports acquired Shapiro’s August 2006 American Express Platinum card and February 2007 American Express black card statements showing charges of $926.50 and $1,099.32, respectively, for Grazie dinners Shapiro said were attended by Reddick and multiple players.

• One source corroborated Shapiro providing VIP access and drinks for Reddick in nightclubs.

• "He was around me and my situation for everything – nightclubs, in my house, ruined my jet skis, which [each] cost $12,000 brand new."

• "He was the best friend of Devin Hester, and after [Reddick] had a serious knee injury, I still continued to hang out with him even though he didn't have much football left in him."

This page from Nevin Shapiro's August 2006 American Express Platinum card statement shows a charge of $926.50 that the booster identified as a preseason dinner at Miami Beach eatery Grazie. Shapiro said he attended the dinner and paid for the meals of seven players: Randy Phillips, Calais Campbell, Bryan Pata, Eric Moncur, Courtney Harris, Anthony Reddick and Reggie Youngblood. An employee from Grazie declined to give specific accounts of meals but confirmed to Yahoo! Sports that Shapiro regularly brought Hurricanes players into the eatery to dine. PDF file

This page from Nevin Shapiro's February 2007 American Express black card statement shows a charge of $1,099.32 that the booster identified as a postseason dinner at Miami Beach eatery Grazie. Shapiro said he attended the dinner and paid for the meals of at least five players: Randy Phillips, Calais Campbell, Courtney Harris, Anthony Reddick and Orlando Franklin (who was a redshirting freshman at the time).
