Martin Keown has claimed Alexis Sanchez as "difficult to manage" and "very demanding" at Arsenal.

Arsenal have endured a difficult season, finishing fifth in the Premier League table and yet another round-of-16 exit from the Champions League by Bayern Munich.

Having scored 24 goals and assisted 10 this season, Sanchez has been the standout performer for the Gunners despite a string of on-pitch disappointments in north London and increased pressure on Arsene Wenger.

Although the ex-Barcelona man is a fan favourite, former Arsenal defender Keown says Sanchez is "demanding" behind the scenes.

He said: “I think he's a difficult man to manage.

“I did turn up at the training ground once - and it was one of his days off but he suddenly turned up and he was bouncing around the training pitch.”

“They were having to facilitate him and put a training session on for him. That can be a good thing but he's a very demanding individual.”
