Starting middle linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton suffered a knee injury late in the first half of Saturday’s 54-16 win against Florida in the SEC Championship game, and coach Nick Saban said he might be done for the season.

Hamilton was the team’s second-leading tackler heading into Saturday’s game with 63 stops.

“Shaun Dion has a knee,” Saban said. “He’s probably going to be out for the year. He’ll be missed, but we have a lot of confidence in Rashaan (Evans), and he did a good job for us today.”

Hamilton intercepted Florida quarterback Austin Appleby on the Gators’ second possession of the game and returned it 40 yards to the Florida 12. It resulted in an Alabama field goal.

Evans has 35 tackles, 2.5 sacks, six quarterback hurries, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery this season.
