AHL team to wear police uniform jerseys, with ‘bulletproof’ vests

The Bakersfield Condors, the AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers, are never at a loss for creative jersey designs.

Their latest one? Well, let’s just say the referees are no longer going to look like the only authority on rules enforcement on the ice.

The Bakersfield Condors host the Ontario Reign on Saturday night at 6 p.m. and will wear specialty Law Enforcement jerseys for a “Jerseys Off Our Backs” auction that will benefit the Kern County Law Enforcement Foundation and the Bakersfield Homeless Center, which is really cool of them.

The jerseys have logos from three local Kern County Law Enforcement agencies. The Condors’ logo is on a badge, and there’s a “Thin Blue Line flag in remembrance of those who have given their lives in the line of duty” as well.

They’ll be auctioned off to benefit the Kern County Law Enforcement Foundation; it’s purposes are to promote efficient law enforcement by providing assistance to various police agencies in Kern County, to “provide scholarships to students who aspire to become involved in law enforcement, and to recognize outstanding accomplishments of law enforcement officers and citizens who have courageously taken action to resolve a law enforcement emergency.”

We’re assuming the Reign are going to wear their typical jerseys, even if the Condors’ jersey of choice pretty much demands that Ontario dress up like convicts.
