Agent: Michael Bradley to Toronto FC a done deal

Michael Bradley to Toronto FC is imminent, his agent says.

Speaking to Radio Radio in Italy, Alberto Faccini said that the U.S. national team star's transfer to Major League Soccer is complete.

"Michael made this choice and Toronto, in just two days, has closed the deal," Bradley's representative in Italy said. "There is a very important project for him at Toronto, which made an investment that is one of the most expensive in recent years."

TFC is in the midst of a massive offseason rebuild that will see the club become among the highest-spending in league history. In addition to Bradley, Toronto has pursued Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe and signed Brazilian attacker Gilberto.

It is expected that TFC will announce Defoe's signature Monday, and Faccini said Bradley may not be too far behind.

"For Michael this was a tough step to take, but the choice was dictated by some market movements," Faccini said. "Without waiting for Jan. 31, he chose to follow this path also to help the growth of [North] American soccer."

The 26-year-old American felt increasingly squeezed out at Roma by a growing roster that has grown in the current transfer window, Faccini said.

"The arrival of [Radja] Nainggolan at Roma has also contributed to Bradley's choice," the agent explained. "At Roma he never felt like an important player for the team."

Despite his lack of playing time at the Serie A giant, Faccini said that Bradley still had many suitors within that league, and he also had the option of remaining at Roma. However, the player decided now was the time to return to the league that gave him his professional start.

"There were many offers, also from Serie A, by clubs like Verona and Bologna, but Micheal chose to return [to MLS] after [nearly] 10 years in Europe," Faccini said. "It was a bitter choice, but made with the heart.

"Roma wanted him to stay — to leave for Toronto was his choice."
