Agent for Dolphins WR DeVante Parker calls coach Adam Gase incompetent and a liar

Not that the Miami Dolphins needed more drama after losing their third game in four tries, but the agent for receiver DeVante Parker provided some.

Parker, a former first-round pick, has played in just two games this season as injuries have again held him back. But Jimmy Gould, Parker’s agent, said on Sunday that injuries weren’t keeping Parker on the inactive list Sunday. Dolphins head coach Gase said after the game that Parker wasn’t healthy.

Gould, in a statement to Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post, said Gase was lying about Parker’s health and that his decision to deactivate Parker “was an example of poor management and cost the team the best opportunity to win.”

The Dolphins lost 32-21 to the Detroit Lions. Gould pointed out the Dolphins averaged 6.1 yards per catch in the game, though that wasn’t accurate. Miami averaged 10.9 yards per catch and receivers Danny Amendola and Kenny Stills caught touchdowns.

Still, Parker’s agent said his client was healthy and the Dolphins “needed Parker active.” He added, “the only real question that should be asked is how does coach Gase justify his own incompetence.”

He finished his rant with “Something smells in Miami.”

It’s going to be interesting to see how this saga will play out, to say the least.

Will DeVante Parker get traded?

It seems like a trade is in the works, and both sides want that.

Parker has been a bust, so it’s not like the Dolphins will get much for him. Miami had him inactive despite him practicing this week, which seems like a sign that they were hoping to keep him healthy for a trade. It also seems strange why Gase would say Parker isn’t healthy, if he was. It’s not like that helps his trade value, if that’s what the Dolphins are hoping for.

Parker’s agent could be laying the tracks for a trade. Perhaps the best way to get out of town would be to say the coach is a liar and incompetent. There aren’t any bridges left to burn after that.

Parker has been a disappointment

Parker has barely played this season, even on the rare occasion he has been active. He has two catches for 40 yards. Injuries have held him back, but he has rarely shown the talent that made him a high pick. He hasn’t had more than 744 yards in a season, and this is his fourth year in the NFL.

Maybe Parker’s next NFL stop will be a better fit. After his agent’s comments, he might be sent to his next NFL stop soon.
