It’s not every day a zoo honors someone by naming a baby animal after them.

But in the case of Zoo Atlanta, Tom Brady may be wishing a more cuddly animal was chosen.

Zoo Atlanta and Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence R.l. made a bet before Super Bowl LI – whichever side won, the Atlanta Falcons or New England Patriots, the zoo from the losing region would have to name a baby animal after the winning quarterback.

Well, as we all know by now, the Patriots, led by Brady, won the game in a stunning comeback.

And on Monday, Zoo Atlanta introduced the world to one of its newest residents, Tom Brady.

Tom Brady the Madagascar hissing cockroach.

See for yourself:

Well … the New England Patriots won #SuperBowlLI, so that means we lost our bet with Roger Williams Park Zoo & Carousel Village. Before the game, our two zoos decided the losing side would name one of their baby animals after the winning team’s star quarterback, and figuring the losing side would be pretty bitter about it, we came to the agreement that baby animal … would be a Madagascar hissing cockroach. So without further ado – Meet our newly-named Program Animal family!

Tom Brady is by far the smallest of the family of cockroaches, part of a Brady Bunch – the other insects are named Mike, Carol, Greg, Peter, Bobby, “Marsha-Marsha-Marsha”, Jan and Cindy.

Clever.
