Rice’s football field doubled as a pond Wednesday morning.

The Houston area has undergone a deluge of heavy rain over the past few days and the school couldn’t avoid any flooding. Rice tweeted Wednesday morning that entrances to campus were blocked off due to high water and the football field was completely submerged.

The water receded quickly. The school said an electrical malfunction had caused the temporary backup and the entrances to campus were clear as of 9 a.m. CT.

Some areas of Houston have received approximately five inches of rain in the past 24 hours while other areas closer to the Gulf of Mexico haven’t received much rain at all.
