Yahoo Sports Adam Gase says everyone on Jets believes he should still call plays
New York Jets head coach Adam Gase isn’t giving up play calling any time soon. With the Jets struggling to produce on offense, Gase was asked whether he would consider giving up calling plays. That’s not going to happen.
Why? Because Gase is the best person for the job. Don’t just take it from him, though. Gase says he spoke to his staff, and they all agreed Gase should continue calling plays.

Following the Jets’ 30-10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5, Gase admitted he would consider giving up play-calling duties. After reflecting on the issue, Gase decided to keep that role.
Can Adam Gase turn the Jets around?
Gase’s track record in that role has been spotty at best. The Jets have failed to put a productive offense on the field since Gase took over as the team’s head coach. Quarterback Sam Darnold hasn’t shown enough progress under center, though mono and injuries have prevented him from being at full strength during Gase’s tenure. That will once again be the case in Week 6, as Darnold has been ruled out due to a shoulder injury. Joe Flacco will start in Darnold’s place.
On top of that, Gase clashed with running back Le’Veon Bell multiple times. The relationship between the two deteriorated to the point that the Jets released Bell on Tuesday.
Without Darnold and Bell, Gase will have to find a way to put up points against a vulnerable Miami Dolphins defense. If Gase can’t do that, the Jets may have to reconsider whether he’s really the best man for the job.
