Acrobatic TD catch helps Colorado beat Oregon for first time since 1998

Colorado beat Oregon for the first time since 1998 on Saturday, and it did so on a miraculous touchdown catch.

The Buffs led 33-17 early in the third quarter, but the Ducks stormed back to take a 38-33 lead. Colorado, with freshman Steven Montez playing quarterback for the injured Sefo Liufau, heaved one up to Bryce Bobo on a third-and-10 play.

Bobo somehow made a spinning one-handed grab while getting a foot down inbounds to give the Buffs a 41-38 lead.

Here’s a closer look:

Bobo’s acrobatic catch was originally ruled incomplete, but the call was correctly overturned after a replay review.

From there, the Buffs were able to hold off Oregon’s high-powered offense. The game was officially put away when Oregon quarterback Dakota Prukop was intercepted in the end zone by Ahkello Witherspoon.

The win is a big one for Colorado and head coach Mike MacIntyre. The Buffs were a combined 10-27 and had just two Pac-12 wins in MacIntyre’s first three years running the program. Things are different this year with the Buffs off to a 3-1 start.

Montez threw for 333 yards and three touchdowns in the win while adding 135 yards and a score on the ground. And while Bobo had the game-winning catch, Devin Ross was Montez’s top target with seven catches for 153 yards and a touchdown.

MacIntyre was emotional in the locker room after the win.

That’s good stuff.
