I've been on a YouTube beauty-watching tear recently, and even with generous friends in beauty PR, it's wrecked devastation on my bank account. Hailey Bieber isn't helping matters: In honor of Black History Month, the skincare-savvy model is spotlighting her favorite products from black-owned beauty brands in a series on YouTube. Up first is BeautyStat with the brand's TikTok-famous Universal C Skin Refiner Serum front and center.

"It's the world's first serum containing 20 percent stable and pure vitamin C, which was groundbreaking in the skincare industry," Bieber said. "It has changed my skin. One of my holy grail products." With access to literally all of the best skincare that money can buy (her previous skincare videos have featured products like Furtuna Skin's $225 Due Alberi Biphase Moisturizing Oil), that call-out carries weight.

Founded by cosmetic chemist Ron Robinson, BeautyStat is famous beyond Bieber's recent review; its popularity on TikTok shows she's not the only one who's seen impressive results. A video from dermatologist Dr. Muneeb Shah on the serum has garnered 134.7 thousands likes, while the brand's hashtag currently sits at 6.6 million views. The love continues on Amazon, where shoppers nearing 60 said they've seen wrinkles turn less noticeable thanks to the formula. "I absolutely love this," wrote a different fan on their third bottle of the stuff. "Noticeable results so far — my skin looks so firm and dark spots [have] faded so much."

The formula in question combines the high percentage of l-ascorbic acid that Bieber mentioned with EGCG, also known as epigallocatechin gallate, the active component of green tea. That contributes powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory action, as squalane bestows hydration, and tartaric acid maintains a pH level that BeautyStat says helps vitamin C best absorb.

Bieber then went on to highlight the brand's Universal C Eye Perfector, which she called, "part of my day to day routine," and Universal Pro-Bio Moisture Boost Cream, an "amazing, everyday all-around solid moisturizer. They're absolutely incredible." The former includes 5 percent ascorbic acid, EGCG, hyaluronic acid, hemp leaf extract, and hemp oil for a gentle, but effective brightener. As one Amazon reviewer mentioned, "This product does a beautiful job of smoothing out rough skin and filling in wrinkles."

Fans are likewise impressed by the Moisture Boost Cream: One compared the fragrance-free mixture of ceramides, probiotics, mushroom ferment, and hyaluronic acid to a $509 product. "This is the lightest, most hydrating moisturizer I've ever used," they concluded. "[My skin] has an amazing glow now, and it looks plumper and hydrated…You must try this magic cream."
