Aaron Rodgers was 'looking forward to' meeting Ndamukong Suh off the field Sunday

Longstanding tension between Aaron Rodgers and Ndamukong Suh surfaced during Sunday’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers win over the Green Bay Packers.

Suh got in more than one good shot on the Packers quarterback, whom he used to face twice a year when he played for the Detroit Lions. The pair also exchanged words more than once during the game.

Rodgers opened up about their conversations on Tuesday with “The Pat McAfee Show,” telling McAfee that he expected to continue the conversation with Suh off the field after the game.

“There was a little conversation in the third quarter, and this is where I say sometimes it goes to slightly more cordial after it’s hostile,” Rodgers said. “I was under the impression we were going to have a conversation after the game.

“It was one of those, ‘hey, you’re old, I’m old, let’s talk some things out.’ I don’t know if he ran off the field after the game. I didn’t see him after the game.”

This appears to be the moment where that conversation took place.

Did Suh want to fight or ‘come to Jesus?’

Rodgers told McAfee that he’s heard that Suh might even want to conduct some off-field business with him. What kind of business? Who knows? Rodgers didn’t expound.

And Rodgers said he honestly wasn’t sure if Suh wanted to fight or bury the hatchet.

“On the field, I would say it’s still a little contentious,” Rodgers continued. “There might have been some lost-in-translation whether or not he was talking about the ‘see you at the bus conversation.’ I thought it seemed more like ‘hey, let’s have a little come to Jesus moment.’”

Rodgers had no plans to fight Suh

Regardless, Rodgers was disappointed that the postgame conversation didn’t take place. Also, he had no intention of fighting Suh, a 6-4, 313-pound defensive lineman with a mean streak.

“I was looking forward to that conversation,” Rodgers said. “I didn’t know how it was going to go. I didn’t think it was going, like, look, I’m not going to fight Ndamukong Suh. After all these years playing together, we’ve never had that conversation off the field. I think it would be interesting.

“I think he’s an interesting guy. On the field I can’t say that I’m a huge fan, but that’s just because we’ve battled for so may years, and there’s been some interesting moments.

One of those interesting moments involved Suh twice stepping on Rodgers’ injured leg during a high-stakes 2014 game with the NFC North title on the line.

Both the Bucs and the Packers are NFC playoff contenders. Rodgers may get his wish to continue the conversation in the postseason. Stay tuned.
