A two-time 'Jeopardy!' champion sends sly digs at the 2016 Warriors with his wagers
Repeat after me: “Golden State Warriors blew a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals” jokes will never get old.

I know what you’re thinking, that I’m daft and that it hasn’t been funny since July, but you are clearly wrong. Well off, in this regard. This is Bob Newhart-styled silly and dry humor at its finest. The Warriors blew a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals.
The latest to remind us of such is Loren Lee Chen, podcaster at On the NBA Beat and current “Jeopardy!” champion. Two-time champion, even.
How do we know? During ‘Final Jeopardy!’ on both nights, he either wagered $301, or $739.
(Put on your Alex Jones jacket.)
“Three to one lead in the NBA Finals” = “$301.”
So …
“NBA record 73-9 regular season” = “$739”

As I said yesterday, 3 and 1 are some good numbers. Don’t you just feel invincible after seeing the numbers 3 and 1? https://t.co/JDJmtFqFyX

I already said about yesterday’s 301. Now $739, lemme tell you about the numbers 73 and 9. Really feels like nothing can go wrong after that https://t.co/QwQSiWS2GA

(And good on Loren for building such a big lead prior to the final round that the wager that deep into the show became pointless for everything but NBA blog posts.)

Talking with Jovan Buha at ESPN, Chen confirmed the connection:
“Basketball Twitter is obviously a big part of my life, so I wanted to give them a little shout-out, though now it might have been a little stale.
“My $301 bet on Tuesday didn’t get noticed by too many people,” Chen added. “But $739 on Wednesday definitely did, and it’s been really great seeing the support from everyone on there during this run.”
A run that, as of Thursday night, continues unabated. Check local listings for updates.
