Next week on Casualty, Jacob is on a downward spiral, while Jan makes a life-changing decision and Max lets Jodie down on the day she needs him the most.
Here's a full collection of the biggest moments coming up:
1. Max makes a mistake with Jodie
Jodie wants to call in sick to work, leaving her friends confused about her behaviour and why she drank so much the night before.
Max catches her having a tearful moment and is unsympathetic, assuming she's just struggling because she's hungover.
However, Max is mortified when he realises the date– it’s two years since Jodie's mum died.
2. Ryan reveals a secret
Donna tells Ryan off for flirting with a patient. Irked, Ryan snaps back, insisting that he's not the one she should worry about.
Unaware that he's got the wrong end of the stick, Ryan tells Donna that he thinks Max is sleeping with Jodie.
3. Donna confronts Max
Donna is quick to dismiss Ryan's claims but decides to do some investigating anyway.
When Max gives Jodie’s work an unexpectedly glowing review, Donna confronts him outright.
Max calmly makes the question seem absurd, warning Donna that a rumour like that could damage Jodie's career.
4. Jodie makes a mistake
Rida warns Jodie that there’s a rumour going round that she's having a fling with Max.
Rida advises her friend to tell the truth, but Jodie refuses as she doesn't want to be known as 'Max's daughter'.
Determined to keep busy, Jodie helps Stevie to treat a dog bite patient, Freya. Stevie gives her the correct treatment plan, but a distracted Jodie accidentally forgets to send Freya away with antibiotics.
5. Gethin pushes Jan away
Jan tells Gethin she's taking on a reduced shift in order to be home to look after him.
When Gethin burns himself on a kettle, he snaps at Jan that he doesn't need her help.
Hurt, Jan heads off to work in a solemn mood.
6. Max lets Jodie down
Max checks that Jodie is okay after the day she's had.
Concerned about the rumours circulating about them, Max detracts on his earlier offer to take her out for a coffee, implying they should keep their distance.
Jodie is clearly disappointed but her day threatens to get even worse when Donna discovers her earlier blunder regarding the antibiotics.
Max realises that this was Jodie's mistake and covers for her.
7. Jacob isn't coping
Jacob has arranged to speak to a therapist, but can’t bring himself to join the call.
Throwing himself into work instead, Jacob unexpectedly finds himself picking up a patient at the bar he attends, where is palpably embarrassed to see Billie in a professional capacity.
8. Jan makes a decision
Jan is called out to treat cancer patient Mary, who is nearing the end of her life.
When Mary's daughter Lizzie arrives, she pressures Dylan to do more – just like Mary had predicted.
Mary explains that she's ready to go now, but when her heart stops, Lizzie begs Dylan to intervene regardless.
Jan is upset to witness the resuscitation of a woman who was ready to die and later stumbles upon Mary's strong painkillers, which were left in the ambulance. She decides to give these to Gethin – if it's what he really wants, she'll help him die.
9. Jacob and Billie kiss
Jacob declines an offer of going out with the paramedics and returns to Billie’s bar instead.
He tells her the truth – he's been coming in so often because it's an excuse to see her.
Sparks fly as they have a drink together. At the end of the night, Jacob gives into temptation and kisses Billie, finally feeling less alone.
