  • Alan Ritchson plays former military policeman Jack Reacher in the Amazon series.

  • The show follows the nomad as he roams the US and clashes with criminals.

  • Here are eight shows to watch while waiting for the next season.

Amazon Prime Video's "Reacher" has been a hit with action fans worldwide.

The series stars Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher, a former military policeman who roams the US with a habit of stumbling onto criminal conspiracies, murder, and chaos.

It is based on Lee Child's "Jack Reacher" novels and has adapted 1997's "Killing Floor" and 2007's "Bad Luck and Trouble" so far.

Although the second season has just finished airing, Ritchson is already back at work filming "Reacher" season three, so it won't be long before he's punching his way through a mystery again.

But until "Reacher" returns, there are plenty of shows to fill the man-mountain-sized hole left on our screens.

"The Punisher"

If a violent military conspiracy is what you're interested in, then check out "The Punisher."

Season one follows former marine-turned-vigilante Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), who hunts the people responsible for executing his family.

Packed with brutal action, violence, and a compelling mystery, "The Punisher" is one of the best things to come out of Marvel's deal with Netflix.

Season two sees Castle go on the road, much like "Reacher," so it's the perfect follow-up to the Amazon series.

Come for Bernthal's furious performance as Castle, and stay for scene stealers like Ben Barnes and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.

"The Punisher" is available to stream on Disney Plus.

"The Terminal List"

Marvel alumni Chris Pratt leads Amazon's "The Terminal List" as Lieutenant Commander James Reece, who returns home after his team of Navy SEALs are ambushed during a mission.

As the truth surrounding the attack gets muddier, Reece's family becomes casualties of a conspiracy.

Much like "The Punisher," the series is about Reece's quest for justice for his family, and the truth about his teammates.

It's worth a watch to see how Pratt handles a darker performance, after seeing him play charming rogue Star-Lord in "Guardians of the Galaxy," and lovable fool Andy Dwyer in "Parks and Recreation."

"The Terminal List" is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

"Fool Me Once"

If a good mystery is what you're after, then look no further than Netflix's "Fool Me Once."

Based on Harlan Coben's book of the same name, it follows former soldier Maya Stern (Michelle Keegan), who is still grieving the death of her husband Joe (Richard Armitage) after he was killed in a mugging.

But Maya's life is turned upside down when she spots her supposedly dead husband on a nanny cam inside their house. As she searches for answers, she's forced to look at her military past and her husband's shady history.

Like the other shows based on Coben's work, "Fool Me Once" is an addictive, binge-worthy thriller packed with twists.

"Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan"

When it comes to military thrillers, Tom Clancy's books are the gold standard, so it's no surprise that his books have been adapted for the screen several times over the years.

John Krasinski is the latest to play CIA analyst Jack Ryan after Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine.

The Amazon series starts with Ryan plucked from his analyst desk job at the CIA and thrown into the middle of a high-stakes operation after tracking questionable bank transactions in Yemen.

Although the assassinations, shoot-outs, and military conspiracies would normally blur together after four seasons, the globetrotting nature of "Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan" ensures that it never gets stagnant.

"Bodyguard" stars Richard Madden.ITV Studios Global Entertainment

2018's "Bodyguard" is one of the best British thrillers of the last decade.

It stars Richard Madden as Police Sergeant David Budd, a former soldier who works as a bodyguard within the London Metropolitan Police.

While Budd is a formidable soldier, he struggles to hide his difficulties with PTSD as a result of serving in Afghanistan. And when he is assigned to protect Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes), a controversial politician, he finds himself in the crosshairs of people who want to assassinate her.

This tight paranoid thriller comes from the mind of Jed Mercurio, the creator of the critically acclaimed British police drama "Line of Duty," so audiences should expect plenty of plot twists and pulse-pounding tension.

"Bodyguard" is available to stream on Netflix.

"The Rookie"

"The Rookie" balances big action with heart and humor equally.

It stars fan-favorite actor Nathan Fillion as John Nolan, the oldest rookie cop in the Los Angeles Police Department.

The writers clearly have fun with the procedural nature of the show as Nolan finds himself in improbable situations, from getting trapped in the middle of a prison riot to escorting a serial killer to a burial site.

Is "The Rookie" a little whacky at times? Sure. But it also ensures audiences care about Nolan and the rest of his fellow rookie cops.

"The Rookie" is available to stream on Hulu.

Antony Starr in Banshee

Audiences might best know Antony Starr for his intimidating performance as Homelander in "The Boys," but he delivers another savage role in "Banshee."

The show follows an unnamed criminal who, upon his release from prison, seizes the opportunity to adopt the identity of Lucas Hood, the new sheriff of a town called Banshee who was killed in a bar fight the day before starting the job.

Hood has to work hard to maintain the lie, while also fending off attacks by criminals from his past and new threats that emerge from Banshee's seedy underbelly. With brutal, gritty violence, and snarky dialogue, it's a perfect watch for "Reacher" fans.

"Banshee" is available to stream on Max.

"Mr Inbetween" is an utterly brilliant Australian series that deserves more love than it gets.

Writer and creator Scott Ryan leads the series as hitman Ray Shoesmith, who has a talent for carrying out difficult assassinations and somehow making it out alive.

Ray balances his life as a contract killer with co-parenting his daughter, Brittany (Chika Yasumura), with his ex-wife, Jacinta (Natalie Tran), and caring for his older brother, Bruce (Nicholas Cassim), who has motor neuron disease.

It's a gripping drama that effortlessly pulls on the heartstrings occasionally, whether it's Ray hunting down a pedophile for a dying father, or the touching relationship he has with his Bruce.

"Mr Inbetween" is available to stream on Hulu.
