Yahoo Sports 5-star Alabama freshman RB Trey Sanders out 'indefinitely' after foot injury
Nick Saban confirmed Saturday afternoon that freshman running back Trey Sanders suffered a foot injury.
The injury was first reported by Al.com, which noted it happened at the end of Alabama’s practice on Thursday.
“Trey Sanders did not scrimmage today because he had a foot injury that will require surgery,” Saban said. “So he will be out indefinitely.”
While Saban said Sanders’ absence didn’t have a timetable, the Al.com report was more definitive. It said Sanders would miss the 2019 season.

Sanders was No. 1 RB in class of 2019
Sanders was ranked by Rivals as the top running back of the 2019 class and the No. 3 prospect in the entire country. And he was potentially going to play right away in Alabama’s offense.
Alabama was looking for running back reinforcements after the departures of Damien Harris and Josh Jacobs to the NFL. Najee Harris returns as the top running back — and Alabama always has running back depth — but Sanders was expected to contribute as a backup.
Just earlier this week Saban had complimented the way Sanders looked in fall practices. As of now, Brian Robinson looks to be Harris’ top backup.
Saban also said Saturday that the training staff was looking at a knee injury that linebacker Joshua McMillon suffered. McMillon, a senior, is expected to play some meaningful snaps for the Tide’s defense.
