4-star WR Jamire Calvin signs with Washington State, his third commitment in a month

The final month of the recruiting process was quite busy for Jamire Calvin.

Calvin, a four-star wide receiver from Los Angeles, signed with Mike Leach and the Washington State Cougars on Wednesday. Washington State became the third program to receive a commitment from Calvin in the past month, but was the only one, of course, to receive a signed national letter of intent from the No. 189 overall prospect in the country, according to Rivals.com.

Before officially becoming a Cougar, Calvin announced commitments to both Oregon State and Nebraska. Calvin made his commitment to Oregon State on a big scale, too, doing so at the U.S. Army All-American Game on Jan. 7.

But his commitment to Gary Andersen and the Beavers didn’t last long. Just 10 days later, Calvin opened up his recruitment. And 10 days after that, on Jan. 27, Calvin committed to Nebraska.

Calvin’s commitment to the Huskers was even shorter. Wednesday, during an event at his school, he revealed he was headed to WSU. Later in the day, Washington State confirmed it had prevailed in Calvin’s recruitment and received his signed NLI, ending a month-long saga.

In Calvin, Washington State landed the highest-rated recruit in its 2017 class. He is one of five receivers in the class, joining Anthony White Jr., Easop Winston, Travell Harris and Dominick Silvels. Like Calvin, White is a four-star recruit — the only other in the class. Winston is rated three stars while Harris and Silvels are two-star prospects.

With Calvin in the fold, WSU’s class is currently ranked No. 50 in the country and No. 10 in the Pac-12 by Rivals.
