General Motors is bringing yet another luxurious EV SUV to market for 2025 by way of the all-new Cadillac Optiq. Slotting below the mid-size Lyriq and full-size Escalade IQ offerings, this compact SUV is aimed right at the increasingly popular and more affordable compact SUV segment.

Basically everything we know about this upcoming SUV comes from what we can see in the pair of photos released by Cadillac. It’s a handsome machine, drawing clear inspiration from its larger siblings. The front fascia is reminiscent of the larger Lyriq, while the split tail light treatment is shared with the Escalade IQ.

The automaker isn’t quite ready to share powertrain details on the Optiq, but there are a few assumptions we can make based on the rest of their lineup. You can expect the Optiq to utilize the same Ultium battery packs and motor setups shared with the Lyriq, Chevy Blazer EV, and Chevy Equinox EV models. Based on the segment positioning, it’s likely we’ll see battery capacity and output in line with the Equinox lineup in particular. Chevrolet will offer that SUV with a single-motor setup providing front-wheel drive and 210 hp, as well as a dual-motor AWD setup with 80 more hp.

Chevrolet expects around 300 miles of range out of the most efficient Equinox EV models, but hasn’t specified much about the battery options. Considering that’s about the same amount of range as Cadillac gets out of the Lyriq with its 100 kWh battery pack, it’s possible we see that hardware carry over from the larger model.

The automaker hasn’t shared any photos of the SUV’s interior, but we know Cadillac is moving to embrace even larger screens. Both the Celestiq and the Escalade IQ feature a 55-inch pillar-to-pillar screen, though the Lyriq utilizes a more traditional digital cluster setup. Expect similar themes to continue with the entry-level SUV.

With the Cadillac Optiq not slated to arrive until the 2025 model year, there’s still likely a while to wait for full details. That said, we know it will be more affordable than the Lyriq, which carries an MSRP of $58,590 for the 2024 model year.
