Handball is one of the most fun Olympic sports to watch.

OK, maybe that's a subjective opinion. But the sport that has similarities to both soccer and basketball doesn't fail to entertain every four (or so) years at the Olympics even if we're still not totally familiar with all of the rules.

The women's handball tournament at the 2020 Olympics has now completed the group stage. The medal rounds start on Aug. 4 in Japan with the quarterfinals. Here's your look at how the field stacks up if you're looking to place any wagers at BetMGM.

ROC vs. Montenegro

Norway is the clear favorite in the tournament after it was the only team to go through the group stages undefeated. Norway scored a tournament-best 170 goals in five games and outscored its opponents by 47. The Netherlands finished second to the Norwegians in Group A and feel like really good value on the board at +550 if you don’t want to go with the favorite. The Netherlands gave Norway its closest game of the tournament by far in a 29-27 loss on July 31.

Sweden won group B after it finished tied with the Russian athletes with three wins, a draw, and a loss. Sweden (+19) had a much better goal differential than the Russians (-1) and won the head-to-head matchup 36-24 on July 27.

France was the only other team in Group B that had a positive goal difference. France was .500 in pool play — two wins, two losses and a tie — and that tie came to Sweden in a match that ended 28-28. If they beat the Netherlands they should win a medal.

Montengro, Hungary and Korea all advanced from pool play with losing records. That’s why they’re such long shots to win the gold.
