2018 NFL schedule: Three teams making debuts in London this season

In case you haven’t heard, the NFL is unveiling the full 2018 regular-season schedule on Thursday night, with both NFL Network and ESPN airing two-hour reveal/dissection extravaganzas to mark the occasion.

Hours before the full schedule is known, the league did release the four international games that will be played this year, three in London and one in Mexico City, and over a decade after the International Series began in earnest, three teams will be playing in London for the first time.

Which teams are headed “across the pond” this year?

The games will be played three weeks in a row: on Oct. 14, Oct. 21 and Oct. 28.

On Oct. 14, the Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders will play, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. ET. The second game will be the Los Angeles Chargers as the home team against the Tennessee Titans, and the third game will be the Jacksonville Jaguars as the home team against the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. Those games will kickoff at 9:30 a.m. ET.

Seattle, Tennessee and Philadelphia are all playing in London for the first time.

Which teams will be playing in Mexico City?

The most-talked about team of the offseason, the Los Angeles Rams, will serve as home team against the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 19 for “Monday Night Football.” Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET.

This is the third year in a row the NFL will hold a regular season game in Mexico.

Which teams still haven’t been overseas?

With three clubs making their maiden appearance in the U.K. in 2018, there are only three teams left who haven’t yet played in London: the Green Bay Packers, Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans.

The Texans have played in Mexico City, and Seattle does have an international game, playing the Bills in Toronto in 2012.

It’s a little surprising that the NFL hasn’t had the Packers play overseas yet, given that it’s one of the oldest and most popular teams in the league.
