3 players from McMurry University arrested on capital murder charges (UPDATED)

A third McMurry player has been charged with capital murder by terror threat in connection with a Jan. 11 shooting in Fort Worth.

Per KBTX, Broderick Ross, 18, was arrested Thursday. Ross was the team’s starting quarterback in 2016. He was 112-199 passing for 1,253 yards, eight touchdowns and eight interceptions and also rushed for 524 yards. He’s no longer listed on the team’s roster as well.

A running back and defensive back from Division III McMurry University in Abilene, Texas, are facing murder charges.

According to the Abilene-Reporter News, running back Dontrell Dock and defensive back Ryan McBeth were arrested Wednesday by U.S. Marshals regarding a Jan. 11 shooting in Fort Worth. Both are facing capital murder charges and bond has been set at $250,000.

Chris-Dion Russell was shot in the chest late Jan. 11 at an apartment complex. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead shortly after midnight Jan. 12. The two players were arrested in Abilene and have been removed from the online roster on the school’s website.

Dock had 18 carries for 49 yards and two scores in six games in 2016. McBeth played in all nine games in 2016 and had three interceptions and 27 tackles. McMurry finished 4-5 last season and 3-4 in conference play.
