  1. Customization of what pops up on someone's phone when you call them. iPhone users with iOS 17 will be able to create a Contact Poster with a photo or Memoji of their choice. Users can also choose the font and color that will show up when they call other iPhone users.

  2. Live transcriptions of voicemails. When an iOS 17 user sends a call to voicemail, they will now be able to see the message being left in real time. There will also be a new Silence Unknown Callers feature offered, which will send unknown numbers to Live Voicemail without making your phone ring. Spam calls can be declined immediately with the update without being sent to Live Voicemail.

  3. Automatic notification of when a user arrives at a destination to their loved ones. The Check-In feature will tell family and friends when iOS 17 users are home safely. If they stop traveling toward their destination, the feature will check on the user. If there is no response, it will send the loved one the location, battery percentage, and cell service status of the user's iPhone.

  4. Transcription of audio messages. In iOS 17, audio messages that are sent in messages will be transcribed, giving users the choice to either read the message or listen to the audio recording of it.

  5. New stickers, including Live Stickers, emoji stickers, Memoji stickers, and more. The update will sync in a user's iCloud, making them usable on a person's iPhone, iPad, and Mac. New effects will be available for decorating the stickers as well and users can create Live Stickers using Live Photos.

  6. FaceTime voicemails. iPhone users with iOS 17 installed will finally be able to leave a voicemail if someone misses their FaceTime call through the methods of a video or audio message.

  7. Up-to-date privacy settings for the internet and more. Apple's privacy protection settings now cover everything from the internet to the photos being airdropped to a user. IOS 17 users will be able to blur photos and videos before seeing them, have protection from cyberattacks with the Lockdown Mode, pick and choose which photos to share with an app while maintaining privacy in their photo library, and more.

  8. Updated AirDrop settings and wireless connections. Apple users will now be able to use NameDrop, which will share phone numbers and email addresses between people when their iPhones are close together. Users will also have the ability to send transfers over AirDrop, even if the person they are AirDropping to is no longer nearby. SharePlay is also getting an upgrade, with users being able to listen to music and play games with people nearby with iPhones.

  9. New Journal app to hit iPhones. The new app will allow users to write about their life experiences on their iPhones and include photos, locations, recordings and more in the entries. The users' iPhones will also begin to create suggestions of experiences for the user to write about in the app based on the photos taken, music listened to, workouts completed, and more details captured in the device.

  10. Autocorrect will see an upgrade. IOS 17 will have more accurate spelling corrections through the autocorrect function of the iPhone. With the update, autocorrect will now have words that are corrected underlined, and will now have a prediction typing function.

Other upgrades that will be available to iPhone users through iOS 17 include SharePlay allowing other users to collaborate on playlists, the sharing of a location in message conversations, FaceTime being available on Apple TV, a new StandBy feature that turns a user's iPhone into a bedside clock, and more.

IOS 17 will likely be released in September.
