BOSTON (AP) Joe Mazzulla didn't want his first practice as the Celtics interim coach to feel any different than his previous three years as an assistant. As the entire organization continues to absorb the changes that'll come with the year-long suspension of coach Ime Udoka, what Mazzulla observed most during Boston's first practice was a team eager to get back to some sense of normalcy.
"I still love Ime as a person and as a coach. It's just something unfortunate that has happened to him," point guard Marcus Smart told reporters on Monday
The one thing we can say with some certainty is that the Celtics are shell-shocked, and the person most responsible for building the trust that led them to the 2022 NBA Finals has broken it.
