Player Notes
Mets manager Terry Collins said Monday that Lucas Duda has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his back.

Advice: Awful news for the Mets. There's no timetable for Duda's return, but Collins said that it will be "a while." The Mets will look to a host of players at first base during his absence, including Eric Campbell, Ty Kelly, Wilmer Flores, and perhaps even Michael Conforto. As for now, David Wright doesn't appear to be a serious consideration at first base, though that could change.

Mets placed 1B Lucas Duda on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 21, with a back injury.

Advice: Duda has been bothered by back discomfort for much of May and will now be shut down for at least the next two weeks. Eric Campbell is starting at first base for the Mets on Monday night against the Nationals. Ty Kelly, called up Monday from Triple-A Las Vegas, could also factor into the mix at first.

The Mets are worried that Lucas Duda is dealing with a disc issue and not something muscular that's causing his back soreness.

Advice: Well, that's not good. Duda is visiting the doctor Sunday morning in hopes of getting a better handle on things, but it looks like this could be a disabled list situation. The Mets should have an update on his status later Sunday.

Lucas Duda (back) remained out of the Mets' lineup Sunday.

Advice: Duda has been in and out of the lineup for the last week with a sore back. He's considered day-to-day. Eric Campbell is filling in again at first base. The Mets also have Rene Rivera at catcher in place of Kevin Plawecki.

Lucas Duda (back) was scratched from the Mets starting lineup on Saturday.

Advice: Duda missed several games during the week with a back injury and it appears that the issue isn't going away any time soon. Eric Campbell will start in his place at first base on Saturday.

Lucas Duda (back) struck out three times Thursday, finishing 0-for-4 in a loss to the Nationals.

Advice: The hitless game dropped Duda's overall line to .228/.291/.433. He has just two extra-base hits, both doubles, since May 5, hitting .183 this month. Thursday was his first game back in the lineup after missing a few games with a back injury.

Lucas Duda (back) is in the Mets' starting lineup Thursday night against the Nationals.

Advice: Duda missed a few days with a nagging back injury. He's tallied seven homers and 19 RBI in 37 games this season, but that has come with a .236 average and .299 OBP. Duda will bat fifth Thursday versus Stephen Strasburg.

Mets manager Terry Collins indicated that Lucas Duda (back) could return to the lineup on Thursday.

Advice: Per Collins, Duda "feels a lot better" and could be available as a pinch-hitter for Wednesday's game against the Nationals. If he still isn't ready to play in Thursday's series-finale against the Nats, the Mets play the Brewers this weekend. All indications point toward this being a minor back issue, rather than something that would cause long-term problems moving forward.

Lucas Duda is day-to-day with back discomfort.

Advice: Mets GM Sandy Alderson told the media Tuesday afternoon that Duda was simply on the bench for the club's series opener against the Nationals, but manager Terry Collins clarified the situation in his pregame chat. Duda should be fine after a day or two of rest. Eric Campbell is starting at first base on Tuesday night.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said Tuesday that Lucas Duda is healthy.

Advice: In other words, Mets manager Terry Collins opted to bench Duda for the series opener against the Nationals. The 30-year-old is batting just .200 (9-for-45) this month and .236/.299/.447 overall. Eric Campbell is starting at first base Tuesday.
