Player Notes
Jon Jay went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's loss to the Giants.

Advice: Jay stroked a solo home run against Giants starter Jeff Samardzija in the sixth inning. It would be one of just two runs the Padres managed to scratch out on the evening. With a .267/.330/.372 triple-slash over 172 at-bats, the 31-year-old outfielder can be safely ignored for fantasy purposes.

Jon Jay (shoulder) doubled and singled in his return to the lineup Thursday.

Advice: Jay didn't start a game for nearly a week due to a sore shoulder. It's not expected to be a long-term issue for him.

Padres manager Andy Green said he expects Jon Jay (shoulder) to return to the lineup Thursday.

Advice: Jay has been sidelined since last Friday because of a jammed shoulder, though he did make an appearance as a pinch-hitter on Wednesday night. He grounded out to second base in the bottom of the eighth inning, but it still served as a positive sign. Jay, the Padres' primary center fielder, is slashing .278/.338/.368 in 38 games this season.
