Player Notes
Jake Arrieta was no Johnny Vander Meer on Thursday, but he was victorious after holding the Brewers to one run over five innings.

Advice: Arrieta needed 92 pitches to get through five innings, allowing three hits and four walks while striking out six. He gave up an RBI double to Alex Presley in the fifth inning to end his home scoreless streak at 52 2/3 innings. That’s the second-longest such streak in MLB history. Arrieta is now 5-0 with a 1.00 ERA and 32/10 K/BB ratio in 36 innings. He’ll get the division rival Pirates next week.

Wednesday's game between the Cubs and Brewers has been postponed due to inclement weather.

Advice: Jake Arrieta tossed a no-hitter in his last start and was looking to back that up in Wednesday's outing. With the cancellation, everybody in the Cubs rotation has been pushed back a day. Arrieta will now start against the Brewers in the series-finale Thursday afternoon. He will be opposed by Taylor Jungmann. No makeup date has yet been announced for the rainout.
