Player Notes
A.J. Ellis went 1-for-4 with a two-run double in Sunday's win over the Mets.

Advice: The Dodgers traded Ellis to the Phillies on Thursday. He saw his first at-bats with the club on Sunday and chipped in with a two-run double during a four-run seventh inning. The veteran backstop is hitting .196/.284/.259 between his two teams this season and does not make for appealing waiver wire fodder.

Phillies acquired C A.J. Ellis, RHP Tommy Bergjans and a player to be named later from the Dodgers in exchange for C Carlos Ruiz and cash.

Advice: Ellis had been with the Dodgers since 2008 and was known for being Clayton Kershaw's primary catcher. Now he'll head to a rebuilding Phillies squad where he'll serve as a backup for Cameron Rupp. Ellis has been a non-factor offensively this season, hitting only .194 with one homer and 13 RBI over 139 at-bats.
