Player Notes
Ervin Santana (back) is on track to return from the disabled list Saturday versus the White Sox.

Advice: Santana made it through a 30-pitch simulated game Tuesday without issue. The right-hander has been on the 15-day disabled list since April 26 because of a lower back strain. He had a 3.15 ERA and 18 strikeouts over his first 20 innings spanning four starts.

Ervin Santana (back) is scheduled to throw 30 pitches in a simulated game on Tuesday.

Advice: Santana landed on the disabled list late last month with a lower back strain, but he made it through a bullpen session on Sunday with no issues. If all goes well on Tuesday, the plan calls for him to be activated this Saturday versus the White Sox.

Ervin Santana (back) played catch and worked on his mechanics Saturday.

Advice: He's expected to follow the same routine Sunday before throwing a bullpen session on Tuesday. Santana is eligible to come off the disabled list Friday against the White Sox. That might be a tad optimistic but Santana seems to be moving in the right direction.

Ervin Santana (back) will throw on flat ground Saturday.

Advice: It will be the first time he's thrown since landing on the disabled list with a lower back strain. The hope is that Santana won't be on the DL long, although obviously he's not terribly close to a return.

Twins placed RHP Ervin Santana on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain.

Advice: Santana had to be scratched from his scheduled start Sunday against the Nationals due to back spasms and hasn't made much progress, though this is believed to be a minor issue. Minnesota also lost starter Kyle Gibson to a shoulder strain on Tuesday. Top starting pitching prospect Jose Berrios will be called up Wednesday to make his major league debut against the Indians.

Ervin Santana (back) is not certain to make his next start.

Advice: Santana was scratched from his scheduled start on Sunday due to back stiffness. Twins manager Paul Molitor said that the veteran right-hander was "feeling a lot better" on Monday, but he has yet to test his back by throwing. More should be known in the next couple of days.
