Player Notes
Ervin Santana struck out 11 while allowing one run over six innings Monday against the Phillies.

Advice: Santana left with a one-run lead that grew to four runs, but it was blown by Luis Avilan in the eighth. After two starts for the Braves, Santana has both a 0.64 ERA and a 0.64 WHIP.

Ervin Santana dazzled in his Braves debut, shutting out the Mets over eight innings and getting the win in Wednesday's start.

Advice: Santana allowed only three hits, struck out six, and walked none. The Braves signed Santana in March after losing two starters to injury. If he can continue pitching like he did in 2013, when he finished with a 3.24 ERA in 211 innings, the Braves may be able to overcome their health problems.

Braves recalled RHP Ervin Santana from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Advice: The Braves sent Santana to Gwinnett to start the season in order to build up his stamina a bit more. He's ready to go now and will make his National League debut on Wednesday against the Mets.

Ervin Santana will make his Braves debut Wednesday against the Mets.

Advice: Santana didn't sign with the Braves until around mid-March, so he wasn't properly stretched out for the start of the season. He allowed six runs (five earned) over 5 1/3 innings Friday in a start with Triple-A Gwinnett, but the results weren't as important as simply getting his pitch count up. The Braves are hoping for big things from him this season with Kris Medlen and Brandon Beachy both out for the year.
