Player Notes
Francisco Rodriguez slammed the door on the Twins on Saturday, working a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a three-run advantage.

Advice: He allowed a two-out single to Eduardo Escobar, but nothing further came from it. Rodriguez owns a troublesome 5.19 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 7/4 K/BB ratio through 8 2/3 innings on the year, but he has made good on six of his first seven save chances.

Francisco Rodriguez notched a one-out save Thursday against the Athletics.

Advice: The Tigers were up by five runs to begin the ninth inning, but Blaine Hardy ran into trouble by giving up three hits, including an RBI single. K-Rod entered with two on and two out and got Stephen Vogt to fly out to lock down the victory. The 34-year-old has converted each of his last five save chances since his disastrous season debut, though questions remain about his ability to remain a valuable closer as his velocity continues to decline.

Thu, 28 Apr Rotoworld
Tigers activated RHP Francisco Rodriguez from the family medical emergency list.

Advice: K-Rod will return to the Tigers' bullpen on Wednesday after missing three games for a private family issue. The veteran closer has been roughed up a couple times this season, but he does have four saves.

Wed, 27 Apr Rotoworld
Tigers placed RHP Francisco Rodriguez on the family medical emergency list.

Advice: It's unclear at this point how long he might be away from the club. Mark Lowe or Justin Wilson could be in line for saves should an opportunity present itself.

Sun, 24 Apr Rotoworld
Francisco Rodriguez survived giving up two solo homers and picked up his fourth save Wednesday against the Royals.

Advice: Fortunately, he was working with a 3-0 lead in the ninth. He also walked two batters after the homer, yet manager Brad Ausmus stuck with him and he was able to strike out Mike Moustakas to end the game. Rodriguez has a 7.11 ERA and a 3/4 K/BB ratio in 6 1/3 innings, but since he has converted four of his five save chances, his job remains fairly safe at the moment. He might, however, get Thursday off after throwing 29 pitches tonight, creating a save chance for Mark Lowe or Justin Wilson.
