Player Notes
Brandon Phillips (finger) went 0-for-4 with a walk on Sunday against the Pirates.

Advice: Phillips missed some time last week with bruises on his left hand and shin, but he was pretty much a full-go for the Reds' weekend set in Pittsburgh. The veteran second baseman is hitting .273/.313/.403 in 77 at-bats this season for a rebuilding Cincinnati team.

Brandon Phillips (finger, shin) is not in the Reds' lineup Tuesday against the Mets.

Advice: Phillips is beat up after taking a pitch off his left finger Monday and fouling a ball off his left shin. Ivan DeJesus Jr. will take over at second base and bat seventh against right-hander Bartolo Colon. Consider Phillips day-to-day.

Brandon Phillips exited Monday's game against the Mets in the fourth inning after he was hit in the hand by a pitch.

Advice: It was a painful at-bat for Phillips, who fouled two pitches off his foot before being hit in the hand by a Noah Syndergaard fastball. Ivan DeJesus, Jr. replaced him in the game. The Reds should pass along an update soon.
