Player Notes
Marlins general manager Dan Jennings will transition from the front office to the dugout to replace recently-fired skipper Mike Redmond.

Advice: Redmond was let go on Sunday afternoon, just minutes after the Braves finished off a three-game sweep of the Marlins in Miami. Bench coach Rob Leary also got canned, and advance scout Mike Goff is going to move from the front office to the dugout with Jennings to fill that spot. It's all very odd, but we've come to expect odd things from Jeffrey Loria's teams. Jennings has zero managerial experience at the professional level. He did coach baseball at Davidson High School in Mobile, Alabama back in the '80s. Mike Hill and Mike Berger will now run the Marlins' front office.

Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports that third base coach Brett Butler is not expected to be the Marlins next manager.

Advice: Butler has been the most popular name in rumblings on Sunday, should the Marlins elect to remain internal when choosing the successor to Mike Redmond who was relieved of his duties on Sunday. They will make a formal announcement of their new hire at Monday's press conference.

The Marlins announced Sunday that they have fired manager Mike Redmond.

Advice: Bench coach Rob Leary was also let go. There were rumors late last month that Redmond's job might be in jeopardy, but owner Jeffrey Loria gave the skipper a vote of confidence a week later. He obviously changed hit mind, though, canning Redmond just minutes after they were nearly no-hit by the Braves' Shelby Miller. Redmond went 155-207 in three seasons with the Marlins, which includes a 16-22 mark in 2015. The Marlins will announce Redmond's replacement on Monday.
