Top Five: Baseball Players Who’ve Married Celebrities

With baseball season just around the corner, here is a look at the top five baseball players that have married celebrities.

Nick Swisher and Joanna Garcia

New York Yankees' outfielder and first baseman Nick Swisher made his major league debut with the Oakland Athletics but he's been in New York for the past three seasons. The Ohio born player is the son of former MLB catcher Steve Swisher and married actress Joanne Garcia in December of 2010. Garcia is best known for her role on the CW comedy, "Reba."

David Eckstein and Ashley Drane

Former Major League infielder, David Eckstein, is a two-time World Series champion, winning with both the Anaheim Angels and the St. Louis Cardinals. With the Cardinals he was named World Series MVP in 2006. The 37-year-old married actress Ashley Drane in 2005. She's made several guest appearances on television, including "That '70s Show," and "That's So Raven," but is best known as the voice of Ahsoka Tano on "Star Wars: The Clone Wars."

Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe

Going back quite a few decades, "Joltin' Joe" made his debut with the New York Yankees in 1936 and played his entire 13-year career for the team. When he retired in 1951, he had the fifth most career home runs with 361. The former center-fielder married one of the most famous blondes to ever walk the streets of Hollywood, Marilyn Monroe, in 1954. The actress filed for divorce just 274 days later, on grounds of mental cruelty.

Dave Justice and Halle Berry

Former outfielder Dave Justice debuted in the major leagues with the Atlanta Braves in 1989. He was named the National League Rookie of the Year in 1990 and is a two-time World Series champion. In 1997, he was named the American League Comeback Player of the Year, and in 2002 he spent his last season as part of the Oakland A's.

On New Year's Eve in 1992, Justice married Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry. The pair had a rather tumultuous relationship and separated a little more than three years after the ceremony.

Scott Podsednik and Lisa Dergan

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Scott Podsednik made his major league baseball debut in 2001 with the Seattle Mariners. In 2004, he led the leagues with stolen bases at 70. The 36-year-old married one of the world's most beautiful women, Playboy Playmate, Lisa Dergan. She is also an actress, and co-starred in the film "The Arena," and is currently establishing her career in the world of sports broadcasting.
