MATT GOTHARD: Welcome back to "Mad Bets," everybody. College basketball is starting up here soon, and we got Frank Schwab here to talk through three of his favorite future bets for the college basketball season. Frank, how's it going? Who is your favorite bet to win at all this year?

FRANK SCHWAB: You know, this is the rare year where there's no standout favorite. So I think you can get the favorite this year, and that's the Gonzaga Bulldogs at 8 to 1. That's a really good price. They got a lot coming back.

I know they lost a lot, but there's a lot of talent coming back. Corey Kispert's a great player. Drew Timme's a really good big guy. They bring in a five-star recruit, Jalen Suggs, and he can be that lead guard they need.

I think this could be Mark Few's best Gonzaga team. And if you're giving them an 8 to 1, those odds are only gonna go down as they roll through the West Coast Conference. I think that right now is a value on Gonzaga. It's rare to get the favorite college in basketball at 8 to 1. So I'm leaning Bulldogs here.

MATT GOTHARD: Well, you mentioned it's wide open. None of the blue bloods are up in there at the top favorites. Is there anybody from that group of teams that you have your eye on?

FRANK SCHWAB: Absolutely. It's no fun to bet Duke, right? We all hate Duke.

But 14 to 1 on the Duke Blue Devils when they have four five-star recruits coming in-- Matthew Hurt, Wendell Moore. They're coming back. That gives them a couple of interim pieces who are also very highly touted recruits.

I think that Coach K's gonna have this team playing well. And I think by the time the tournament comes around, they'll be playing well enough that having 14 to 1 in your back pocket's gonna feel pretty good. The Duke Blue Devils, you can never count them out. Getting them at this kind of price before the season, I'll take that all day.

MATT GOTHARD: Yeah, it's never fun to root for Duke, but it's lot easier if you have money on them. Well, speaking of having money on teams, is there any big long shot that you have your eye on?

FRANK SCHWAB: I really like Texas at 30 to 1. I know Shaka Smart has not gotten it going there, but that's the reason they're 30 to 1. They were playing better at the end of last year. They were getting in that bubble conversation.

They bring a lot back-- experienced guards. They have a five-star recruit, Greg Brown, coming in for their frontcourt. I do like Texas. It is a long shot. That's why the odds are what they are, but this team does have the upside and the talent to make a run in March.
