    The San Jose Sharks won the draft lottery on Tuesday and earned the right to have the No. 1 pick in the NHL draft for the first time in franchise history. The Sharks finished last in the overall standings and retained their position in the lottery. Now San Jose has the opportunity to select Boston University center Macklin Celebrini, who is ranked first among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting. Celebrini is from North Vancouver, British Columbia, but has previous ties to the Bay Area

    Celebrini, Fantilli out for Canada at world hockey championship

    BUDAPEST, Hungary — Teen forwards Macklin Celebrini and Adam Fantilli have decided to return to North America ahead of the start of the world men's hockey championship, Hockey Canada announced Tuesday. Hockey Canada says Celebrini planned to attend Tuesday night's NHL draft lottery. The 17-year-old is projected as the first overall pick in this year's NHL draft. Fantilli, 19, is electing to focus on next season with the Columbus Blue Jackets after his rookie campaign was cut short after 49 games

    Josh Davies scores double OT winner, sends Winterhawks to WHL final

    PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — Josh Davies scored at 5:40 of double overtime, Jan Spunar made 48 saves and the Portland Winterhawks edged the Prince George Cougars 2-1 Monday to advance to the Western Hockey League final. The Winterhawks won the best-of-seven Western Conference series 4-2. They'll face the winner of the Eastern Conference final between the Saskatoon Blades and Moose Jaw Warriors. The Warriors and Blades are tied 3-3 with Game 7 set for Tuesday at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon. Nate Daniels
