ESPN posts Derek Jeter documentary billboard outside Fenway Park

You may have heard ESPN has a Derek Jeter docuseries on the way called "The Captain." Some Boston Red Sox fans definitely know that now.

ESPN's marketing team decided to promote the series by erecting a billboard right outside of Fenway Park in Boston, with nothing but some text and Jeter's enormous face.

Will this soon be the most vandalized billboard in Boston? Only time will tell.

There is obviously no love lost between Jeter and the Red Sox fanbase. Even though Boston certainly got their's over the course of the Yankee captain's career, no player embodied the Yankees' era of success, on the field and in the media, more than the Hall of Fame shortstop.

Jeter didn't see as much success at Fenway as other places, however. In 144 career games at the park, he hit .266/.326/.374 with 14 home runs; his .700 OPS was his lowest at any park in which he played at least 50 games.

"The Captain" is scheduled to premiere on ESPN and ESPN+ on July 18. We're going to guess Boston will be underrepresented among its viewers, unless Red Sox fans enjoy hate-watching that much.
